Ted Lasso has once again filled the stands, with its fourth-season debut drawing nearly 300 million viewing minutes in the United States across its first two days.
The comedy returned to Apple TV on 4 August for its fourth season, having previously established itself as one of the platform’s first breakout hits and broken earlier viewership records.
Record-breaking launch figures
The Season 4 premiere drew 296.6 million viewing minutes in the US across its 4 and 5 August launch window, according to Nielsen data. On 5 August, the debut was the most-streamed programme in the country, accounting for more than 200 million viewing minutes.
Those figures make the fourth-season premiere the biggest launch for Apple TV to date.
What season four brings
In the new run, Ted returns to Richmond to coach a second-division women’s football team. The task challenges both Ted and his squad, encouraging them to take chances they never thought they would.
The series was initially expected to conclude after three seasons. However, in March 2025, Apple confirmed that the show would return for a fourth run.
Future of the series
Star Jason Sudeikis has said he would like to see fifth and sixth seasons. Apple’s Eddy Cue has indicated that Apple TV has no plans to stop the series anytime soon.
