Google has officially unveiled its Pixel 11 lineup, and the range continues to follow the formula the company has relied on for years. That means marginal intergenerational upgrades, few changes from previous Pixel handsets, and little deviation from the established path.
The concern is that Pixel hardware is lagging behind the competition on performance. Preliminary Geekbench results circulating across the wider Android community suggest that Google may be downgrading the Tensor chip lineup with each successive generation, rather than improving it.
Google excels at software, and its hardware reflects that
Google remains a technology giant that has mastered software first and foremost. It was never a dedicated hardware company in the mould of Samsung or Apple, and despite the volume of devices it has released over the past two and a half decades, it has yet to deliver a definitive rival to the Galaxy or iPhone flagships.
Historically, something has always undermined Pixel flagships, whether that be inconsistent quality control across several previous generations or the underwhelming performance of the Tensor chip in recent releases. The Pixel 11 arrives with an identical design, near-identical hardware, less RAM, and a higher price tag, factors that make it a difficult device to recommend on paper.
