Apple Pay executive Jennifer Bailey is retiring after 12 years as Vice President of Internet Services and Apple Pay, ending a tenure that reshaped how millions of people make payments.
During her time leading the division, Apple launched Apple Wallet, Apple Pay, and Apple Card. Bailey also oversaw Tap to Pay on iPhone, Apple Gift Cards, and Apple Cash internationally, alongside Services fraud prevention, partner operations, and Trust and Safety work.
A Long Tenure at Apple
Bailey joined the company in 2003 as Vice President of Worldwide Online Stores, and was promoted in 2014. Beyond Apple, she currently sits on the board of directors at PepsiCo, and served on the American Red Cross board from 2015 through 2024.
Her departure was communicated in a note to all employees written by Eddy Cue. In it, Cue said that under Bailey’s leadership, Apple Pay changed the way hundreds of millions of users pay, delivering a simpler, more secure, and private experience. He credited her with leading the development and growth of Apple Wallet, overseeing the launch of Apple Card, and heading the company’s work on fraud prevention, partner operations, Gift Cards, and Trust and Safety.
Succession Plan Ahead of October Transition
Cue confirmed that a succession plan will be announced before Bailey’s transition at the end of October. She will remain available to support the handover in an advisory role. He added that Apple continues to work towards its vision of replacing the physical wallet.
Bailey is not the only senior figure departing. Josh Rosenstock, Senior Director of Corporate Communications, is also leaving. Rosenstock joined Apple in 2013 from Rolls-Royce and has held the role ever since. His departure is described as routine, as he too is retiring.
The changes mark a significant leadership shift within Apple’s Services and communications teams, with the transitions set to take effect towards the end of October.
