The AeroPress walnut collection marks the first time the company has released a wood design, arriving just weeks after the launch of a stainless steel version of its coffee press. The range extends the brand’s premium line and includes both a brewer and a manual grinder crafted in solid, clear-grade walnut.
The AeroPress is known for its three-in-one brew method, combining immersion like a French press, aeration like a pour-over and air pressure like an espresso machine to produce coffee in under two minutes. Walnut was chosen for its warm tone, which contrasts with the darker finishes of the new design. According to the company, because the brewer and grinder are tactile products, it had been interested in working with wood for some time.
What has changed in the design
Like the other brewers in the premium collection, the walnut version is still made of 304 stainless steel, aluminium and double-wall borosilicate glass with laser-etched measurement markings. However, the brewer’s chamber had to be completely redesigned to accommodate the walnut accent, along with the plunger, flange, scoop and stir accessories, all of which are made of solid wood.
The walnut grinder has a 25-gram capacity and more than 60 grind settings. Its arm now features a black finish and its handle a walnut makeover, while the overall body has a darker tone. The catch’s metal component was designed to fit a solid walnut sleeve. The grinder also includes Italian-made, titanium-coated 38-millimetre conical burrs with a lifetime warranty, dual bearings, a patent-pending Easy-Grind system and a removable magnetic handle. This allows the grinder, and its handle, to be stored inside the AeroPress brewer itself, a first-of-its-kind design for the company.
Sustainability and availability
The walnut used in the new design is grown in the USA and sourced from responsibly managed forests. The company said that sustainability also relates to durability and longevity, noting that its products are designed to last and that replacement parts are offered for key components so items can be repaired rather than replaced.
The collection was designed with the countertop in mind rather than the inside of a cabinet. The brewer and grinder each cost around £185, for a combined total of roughly £370, and are now available through AeroPress.com and Williams-Sonoma.com.
