Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit ’26 Reignites Keynote Excitement

Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit '26 Reignites Keynote Excitement
Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit '26 in Hawaii reignited keynote excitement, showing how Apple and Samsung events have lost their spark.

Qualcomm has reasserted its flair for the memorable product launch, demonstrating at its annual Snapdragon Summit how an industry event can still generate genuine enthusiasm. The maker of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 continues to stage its summit in Hawaii each year, and the 2026 edition offered a reminder of the energy that once defined mobile technology presentations.

The summit stood out not because of a single flagship phone or a particular camera feature, but for the atmosphere surrounding it. For media and technology enthusiasts, there remains a strong appetite for the sense of occasion that comes when a company takes to the stage, delivers a keynote and reveals a new product. When done well, that experience leaves audiences feeling inspired and engaged.

The lost art of the keynote

That approach was once central to Apple under Steve Jobs, who pioneered the format and presented on stage because he wanted to be the one introducing new Apple products. Numerous technology companies have since attempted to replicate the formula. Microsoft produced strong moments of its own in earlier years, while Samsung built a notable presence through its marketing and convention appearances.

More recently, live keynotes and demonstrations have often come across as unconvincing. That shift is attributed in part to the people now delivering them. Where Jobs occupied the stage out of personal passion for the products, the transition to Tim Cook saw Apple move towards team-based events in which several presenters shared the delivery. Cook is regarded as highly effective in his role, though his enthusiasm is viewed as being directed more towards Apple as a company than towards its individual phones and computers.

Presenters and passion

A similar impression has emerged from recent Samsung Unpacked events, where the overall sense was that some of those presenting did not have deep familiarity with the products on show. While certain presenters clearly do, the broader effect has diluted the excitement that live reveals can create.

Against that backdrop, Qualcomm’s summit demonstrated that a technology event can still feel fresh and worth attending. The combination of setting, staging and delivery recaptured a vitality that much of the mobile technology industry appears to have set aside. Qualcomm hosts these summits on an annual basis, with the 2026 gathering once again held in Hawaii.
