The Mandalorian and Grogu is heading to Disney Plus this September, giving fans a chance to stream Lucasfilm’s latest Star Wars outing at home. The film, which arrived in cinemas in May, will land on the streaming service on Wednesday, 2 September.
The announcement was made on Friday, ahead of Disney’s D23 entertainment showcase. Alongside the film’s streaming debut, Disney confirmed a companion podcast and an animated special, both scheduled to arrive on the same day.
What the film is about
The story follows the charming duo from the television series as they are enlisted to help the New Republic track down a warlord. Din Djarin and Grogu become caught in the middle of a Hutt family conflict, putting their mission at risk. The narrative moves forward through fights, starry flights and action.
Pedro Pascal stars as Din, the Mandalorian, with a cast that also features Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White and Martin Scorsese.
The podcast and Lego special
The Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu podcast will debut two episodes on Disney Plus on 2 September at 9 p.m. ET, taking viewers behind the scenes of the making of the film. The podcast will also be available on YouTube in video format, with audio versions on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, Amazon Music and other platforms.
The animated Lego Star Wars: The Mandalorian will also premiere on Disney Plus on 2 September. It is a brick-based retelling of the first three series of the television show.
