The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 arrives as a water-resistant compact foldable that pairs a top-tier chip with an upgraded hinge and a fresh selection of colours. While the refreshed Fold drew most of the attention at launch, the Flip counterpart received a quieter yet meaningful set of improvements.
On paper, the Galaxy Z Flip8 looks like an impressive handset in its own right. It builds on a familiar formula while adding a handful of refinements aimed at keeping it competitive in a market increasingly dominated by book-style foldables.
Displays and Performance
The Z Flip8 features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X foldable screen with 1080p resolution (400ppi), a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The cover display is a 4.1-inch AMOLED panel with 342ppi density and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both screens now reach up to 3,000nits of peak brightness.
Powering the device is a new chip: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for North America and China, or the Exynos 2600 elsewhere. Both configurations come with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Cameras and Battery
The camera hardware remains familiar. On the rear sits a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 12MP ultrawide imager, while a 10MP selfie camera is positioned on the inner screen.
Keeping everything running is a 4,300mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
Despite the appeal, relatively little has changed since the Z Flip7. The updates amount to an incremental chip upgrade, a minor increase in peak brightness and new colourways. This raises the question of whether the price positioning will make the newer model the obvious choice, or whether the Flip7 could become an unexpected bestseller in the shopping seasons ahead.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 ships inside a thin box containing the handset and a USB-C cable. A SIM ejector tool is also included, but there is no case or charger in the package.
