Samsung is likely preparing a return to the premium over-ear headphones market, with a new model set to challenge the Sony WH-1000XM6 and the Apple AirPods Max 2. The device, currently codenamed Galaxy H1, has surfaced online alongside illustrations suggesting what the finished product could look like.
The listing follows a recent reference to the Samsung Galaxy Buds On, a set of earbuds featuring an ear-hook design. The same source has now turned attention to Samsung’s potential high-end headphones, signalling a broader push into premium audio for the year ahead.
A return to premium over-ear headphones
Samsung last competed in this segment with its Level Over headphones, released in 2014. That model offered 50mm dynamic drivers, active noise cancellation, touch controls and a premium build. Given that heritage, there is reason to expect the new headphones to sit firmly in the flagship category.
The renewed effort would place Samsung directly against established rivals in the over-ear space, a market that has grown considerably since the company’s previous attempt.
Specifications and expected release
Alongside the images, a reference in the Galaxy Wearable app points to Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, SSC UHQ codec support and active noise cancellation. These details suggest a specification set aimed at the higher end of the audio market.
For now, Galaxy H1 remains a codename, and the eventual marketing name has not been confirmed. The headphones are expected to launch at some point in 2027, meaning further leaks are likely to emerge over the coming months before any official announcement.
