Motorola is reportedly preparing to launch a new magnetic wireless charging accessory known as the MOTO Snap, according to leaked images. The accessory would mark a significant step forward for the company’s charging solutions, moving away from its current bulky dock design.
The MOTO Snap takes the form of a flat, round charging puck, similar in style to magnetic accessories already used by other manufacturers. Leaked images show the puck bearing the iconic Motorola batwings logo, and it features a USB-C connector for power.
How the MOTO Snap works
The charging puck is designed to use magnets to attach itself securely to the rear panel of a compatible handset. This magnetic attachment aligns the puck precisely with the phone’s internal charging coils, delivering a satisfying “snap-like” fit. The name reflects both the physical attachment and the ease of beginning a charge.
Motorola’s existing wireless charger requires the phone to sit in a bulky dock at an angle, which contrasts sharply with the modern magnetic pucks that adhere directly to a device’s back panel and allow charging on the move. The MOTO Snap represents a shift towards this more contemporary approach.
A broadening Motorola ecosystem
The leaked charger arrives as Motorola continues to expand its mobile ecosystem. The company recently introduced a new tablet range in the United States called the MotoPad, with global releases including the Moto Pad 70 Groove and the Moto Pad 70. All of the tablets run Android, and the MotoPad marks Motorola’s first tablet aimed at US consumers since the Moto Droid Xyboard line launched in 2011.
Leaked images have also emerged of a smartwatch referred to as the Motorola Watch Ultra, featuring the large round dial that has become a hallmark of Motorola timepieces. The company’s wider product line-up now spans budget, mid-range and foldable phones, including both book-style and clamshell designs, though availability varies by country.
Beyond phones and tablets, Motorola offers the Moto Buds Bluetooth wireless earbuds and may introduce a premium smartwatch in the future. The company is also reportedly working on smart glasses, further extending its range of connected devices.
A well-rounded mobile ecosystem depends not only on a broad selection of handsets, tablets and wearables, but also on key accessories such as a sleek magnetic wireless charger. The MOTO Snap would help fill that gap in Motorola’s current offering.
Motorola has yet to officially confirm the MOTO Snap, but the appearance of leaked images suggests an announcement may not be far off. Over 50 Motorola phones are set to be updated to Android 17, underlining the company’s ongoing investment in its device portfolio.
