Motorola Edge 70 Max: First Look at Specs and Design
The Motorola Edge 70 Max packs a 6.82in 144Hz AMOLED, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 7,100mAh battery and 90W charging, priced at around £700.

The Motorola Edge 70 Max arrived last month and has now landed for review, offering a closer look at what the handset delivers. It ships with 256GB of storage and a choice of either 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

Buyers can pick from three finishes: Pantone Aqua Gray, Pantone Ice Melt and Pantone Dark Shadow, each with a distinctive texture. Pricing is set at around £700, matching the €750 European figure and INR 59,999 in India.

Inside the box are the familiar cable and a protective case. The case is not MagSafe-compatible, a notable omission given that some lower-tier Motorola models have shipped with a MagSafe case included. No charger is provided either, so although the phone supports 90W charging, a compatible adapter must be bought separately.

Display, chipset and cameras

The Motorola Edge 70 Max features a 6.82-inch 1440p LTPO AMOLED panel with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Powering the device is a 3nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Around the back sits a 50MP 1/1.56-inch wide-angle camera alongside an autofocusing 8MP ultrawide, while the front houses a 32MP selfie camera.

Battery capacity is a substantial 7,100mAh, supported by 90W wired and 25W wireless charging. On the software side, the handset runs Motorola’s Hello UI, based on Android 16.

Build and handling

The phone feels solid and large in the hand, with a metal frame and glass back finished in matte. While premium in feel, both surfaces are very slippery. During testing the device was dropped from roughly one metre onto concrete, resulting in only a scratched frame.

That durability is aided by MIL-STD-810H compliance, with drop resistance highlighted as one of its strengths. The Dark Shadow review model becomes highly reflective under strong light, producing a striking appearance. The included rubber case is generic in design and would obscure that finish if fitted.
