The Lucid Gravity GT-S made its debut during Monterey Car Week in California, marking a new performance variant of the American manufacturer’s three-row electric SUV. This latest model inherits the upgraded three-motor powertrain from the 1,070-horsepower Lucid Air Sapphire, seats up to seven occupants, and completes the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.1 seconds.
Lucid describes the GT-S trim as “America’s most powerful three-row SUV,” a claim underpinned by that 1,070 hp output. The system uses a three-motor configuration, with one motor at the front and two at the rear. This arrangement propels the SUV to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, slightly behind the lighter Air Sapphire sedan’s 1.89-second time, yet a notable figure for a luxury vehicle offering three rows of seating and substantial cargo space. The GT-S trims roughly half a second from the Grand Touring model’s acceleration time.
How the GT-S Compares to Rivals
While the Gravity GT-S ranks as the most powerful vehicle in its class, it is not the quickest. Rivian’s range-topping R1S Quad-Motor offers 1,025 hp with an estimated 2.6 seconds to 60 mph, though instrumented testing placed it closer to 3 seconds. Tesla’s Model X Plaid carries 1,020 hp and a claimed 2.5-second time; the Falcon-doored three-row EV has been discontinued, but new and low-mileage examples remain relatively available. The Cadillac Vistiq completes the sprint in 3.7 seconds in Velocity Max mode with 615 hp.
Beyond straight-line acceleration, Lucid has enhanced the GT-S handling. The trim comes standard with the Dynamic Handling Package, which includes an adaptive air suspension that lowers the SUV automatically for efficiency at speed and settles it during spirited driving. Independent rear-wheel steering is also fitted as standard, improving low-speed agility and high-speed stability.
The performance focus does affect range. Lucid estimates the GT-S will manage around 373 miles, compared with the 450 miles offered by the Gravity Grand Touring, though the figure has not yet been confirmed by the EPA.
Sapphire-Inspired Styling Inside and Out
The Gravity GT-S receives a Sapphire-inspired makeover. Exterior details include blue accents, blue brake calipers, and GT-S badging featuring a blue S identical to the Sapphire’s branding.
Inside, the GT-S is upholstered in Lucid’s Mojave PurLuxe interior, a synthetic, animal-free leather alternative finished with blue stitching and piping. Buyers who prefer genuine leather can select the Tahoe leather interior, which adds approximately £990 to the price. The blue theme extends to the steering wheel and armrest stitching, along with blue seatbelts, a blue steering wheel badge, and blue embossing on the Lucid Bear headrest logos.
