Meta Ray-Ban Gen 3 Unveiled: Slimmer Design, Longer Battery
Meta Ray-Ban Gen 3 smart glasses arrive with a slimmer design, an extra hour of battery life and a new camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio model.

Meta Ray-Ban Gen 3 smart glasses have been unveiled alongside a new camera-free model, expanding the company’s growing range of XR (Extended Reality) wearables. The announcements came during Meta Connect, where the firm introduced both the Ray-Ban Gen 3 and the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, adding to a portfolio that continues to attract strong consumer demand.

While the smart glasses drew considerable attention, the standout product of the event was the Meta VR Glasses. Even so, the latest Ray-Ban models represent a meaningful step forward for buyers who have embraced Meta’s approach to wearable technology.

Ray-Ban Gen 3: slimmer design and longer battery life

The Ray-Ban Gen 3 build on the existing smart glasses with an additional hour of battery life, a slimmer and more comfortable design, and a new action button. The glasses are available in 27 colour and lens combinations, with Zena and Aviator joining the popular Wayfarer style.

Audio performance features prominently. The Gen 3 include six microphones designed to eliminate most background noise, even in very loud environments. Meta highlighted that the glasses capture the wearer’s voice more clearly than earbuds. The Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses will also be able to record video with Dolby Atmos for spatial 3D sound, a feature aimed at users who favour the format.

The Meta Ray-Ban Gen 3 smart glasses are available now, starting at around £335.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio: a camera-free option

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses are designed for people who prefer not to wear a camera on their face. The launch responds to ongoing debate about smart glasses being used to record others discreetly in public. The camera-free design offers an alternative for customers who want the experience without the associated concerns.

Housed in the same Ray-Ban styling, the Meta Audio glasses retain the functionality of the Gen 3 but omit the camera entirely. Users can converse with AI, make and receive calls, and listen to music. Meta again noted that the microphone arrangement captures the wearer’s voice more effectively than standard earbuds.

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio start at a lower price of around £260.

Expanded Meta glasses range and new partnerships

Meta has previously offered smart glasses under its own name, sitting below the more expensive models designed by Ray-Ban and Oakley, including a pair produced with Kylie Jenner. The company is now adding two new styles, Capri and Nova, to its existing Adventurer and Fury models.

Meta has renewed its collaboration with Kylie Jenner, with the Meta glasses by Kylie gaining a new Ivory colourway. The company has also partnered with Lisa of the K-pop group for the expanded range.
