Luffu Link is a new screenless wearable designed to monitor the health and safety of an entire family rather than a single individual. The band comes from Fitbit co-founders James Park and Eric Friedman, whose Luffu family care system launched in February as an app for logging medications, diet, doctors’ appointments, vaccine records, symptoms and more. That app is currently in public beta.
The company announced the Luffu Link on Tuesday, opening preorders in the United States for people aged 13 and up. It represents the hardware element of an ecosystem built around three locations: the phone, the wrist and the home.
How Luffu Link connects the family
The Luffu Link is a health and safety band that operates over 4G LTE, so a nearby phone is not required to reach contacts for help or to use features such as voice logging for medications, meals, mood, symptoms, reminders and notes. Built-in GPS lets wearers share their location or send a check-in to family members.
For personal health, the band can capture data on sleep, activity, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, calories burned and breathing rate. AI then studies this information to learn patterns and alert users to any changes.
The device features a single button. Press and hold to enable voice logging, or press twice to send a check-in to selected family members. Logged information is organised by AI and added to the shared Luffu app, where users can also create a profile for a pet to record medications, meals and vet visits. Families decide what information is shared and with whom.
Specifications, pricing and availability
Designed to look like a piece of jewellery, Luffu Link has a slim metal core paired with a silicone band. It is water-resistant to 50 metres, offers up to five days of battery life, charges in around one hour and carries a one-year limited warranty. It is compatible with Android 14 or later and iOS 18 or later. LTE data service is included, with no separate carrier plan required.
Using Luffu does, however, require a family plan, which is sold separately and available later this year. The plan covering up to four people costs around £16 per month or £160 per year, while the extended family plan for eight people costs around £24 per month.
In the United States, Luffu Link can be preordered from the Luffu website for around £200, which includes beta access to the app, a quick charger and both large and small silicone bands. It is available in halo gold, sterling blue and onyx black. Shipping is expected to begin in early 2027, after which the price is expected to rise to around £240.
The app is in public beta, with broader US availability planned for later this year. Luffu is also developing an intelligent home device, expected to be announced later this year, that allows families to coordinate care. Luffu Link is expected to start shipping in early 2027.
