John Ternus, the incoming chief executive of Apple, was among those welcoming the Pokémon team during a visit to Apple Park. The gathering took place as the group made its way to the Pokémon World Championship, which begins on 28 August in San Francisco.
The visit gave Pikachu the opportunity to explore the company’s headquarters and meet the executive set to take on the top role at the technology firm. Images shared on social media by current chief executive Tim Cook captured the electric mouse wandering around the campus.
A Meeting at Apple Park
Cook has long been known for hosting a range of well-known figures at Apple. On this occasion, he was joined by John Ternus and Tsunekazu Ishihara, chief executive of the Pokémon Company, as the trio kept watch over Pikachu during the tour of the grounds.
The social media post from Cook highlighted the friendly relationship between Apple and the Pokémon Company, with the character given free rein to roam the site ahead of the championship event.
Ahead of the World Championship
The stop at Apple Park formed part of the Pokémon team’s journey to San Francisco, where the Pokémon World Championship is scheduled to get under way on 28 August. The visit placed the incoming Apple leadership alongside one of gaming and entertainment’s most recognisable characters.
Ternus is set to succeed Cook as chief executive of Apple, and the appearance offered an early public glimpse of the executive in a high-profile setting. The Pokémon World Championship opens on 28 August in San Francisco.
