iPhone Duo: Apple Eases Pre-Orders Amid Limited Stock
Apple lets buyers prepare iPhone Duo pre-orders from 12 October ahead of limited launch stock. See pricing, accessories and release details.

Buyers of the iPhone Duo are being offered a smoother route to securing Apple’s first foldable handset, with the company allowing customers to prepare their pre-orders several days in advance. Pre-orders open at 8am EDT on Friday 16 October, and the device is scheduled for release a week later, on 23 October.

To reduce the pressure of the opening window, Apple is granting a four-day head start. From 12 to 15 October, prospective buyers can select their preferred colour and choose the accessories they want shipped alongside the handset. This set-up is handled through the Apple Store app, which is distinct from the App Store, and via the Apple.com website. Once the window opens, those who have prepared their order can submit it with a single tap.

iPhone Duo pricing and accessories

The iPhone Duo starts at around £1,510 for the 256GB model. The 512GB variant is priced at roughly £1,660, while the 1TB version comes in at about £1,960. The top-tier 2TB model carries a price of approximately £2,415.

Several accessories are also listed. An iPhone Duo Case in Navy Blue is priced at around £60, while the iPhone Duo Kickstand in Taupe costs roughly £97. During the four-day preparation period, buyers can also set their chosen carrier, storage capacity, shipping and billing addresses, payment method, trade-in details, carrier deals, and whether to add AppleCare+ coverage.

Limited supply expected at launch

Preparing a pre-order ahead of time is particularly significant given the stock constraints anticipated for the device. Supply chain pressures, combined with the complexity of producing Apple’s first foldable, are expected to restrict the number of units available to fulfil early orders. Securing a place in the first batch is therefore likely to prove difficult.

Supply chain sources indicate that Apple’s final assembly yields for the Duo are slightly above 60%, and it could take more than a year for the company to bring production fully under control. In such circumstances, having a pre-order ready in advance may shave off valuable time and improve the chances of receiving the handset on the scheduled release date rather than waiting for a delayed back-order.

Analysts believe Apple will produce 6 million foldable iPhone units in 2026.
