An iOS 27 beta has effectively confirmed Apple’s complete iPhone 18 range for the first time, with hidden code referencing six unreleased handsets. Although the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable model are widely expected to launch next month, Apple has yet to acknowledge any of them publicly.
iOS 27 beta 5 references six new iPhone models
The references were discovered in files relating to the battery drivers and Battery Intelligence features within iOS 27 beta 5 for developers, released on Monday. Alongside existing handsets, the code lists six new devices by their internal codenames.
These are identified as V62 (iPhone Air 2), V63 (iPhone 18 Pro), V64 (iPhone 18 Pro Max), V67 (iPhone 18), V68 (iPhone Ultra) and V69 (iPhone 18e). The files refer only to the codenames, though the corresponding models had already surfaced in earlier reports. This marks the first time any iPhone 18 model has been explicitly named in iOS 27 code.
Only half of the range arrives next month
The code does not detail specifications, but it once again labels Apple’s first foldable as the iPhone Ultra. That device is expected to arrive next month alongside the Pro models.
The remainder of the range, including the standard iPhone 18 and the successor to the iPhone Air, is anticipated in spring 2026. This will be the first occasion on which Apple separates the launch of its standard model from the Pro versions.
The code does not address the rumoured price increase for the iPhone 18 Pro models. Discussion online has centred on whether an upgrade would justify a rise of roughly £160 to £240, with some users opting to keep their iPhone 17 Pro and others setting a spending limit before deciding.
Software may prove the bigger draw
The upcoming release also brings wider hardware and software changes. iOS 27 is set to bring Siri AI to all compatible devices, a feature that could encourage owners of older handsets to upgrade.
