Grokipedia Resumes Updates After Months-Long Pause
Grokipedia, the AI-powered encyclopedia from xAI, is updating entries again after a months-long pause, with fact-checks appearing across various pages.

Grokipedia, the AI-powered online encyclopedia developed by xAI, appears to be updating its articles once more following a pause that lasted several months. The platform’s live updates page is now displaying a range of recent changes to entries, although many of these currently show only a note reading “recheck all references and sources”.

The service seems to have returned to activity relatively recently. The entry for President Barack Obama carries a note stating it was “Fact-checked by Grok” two days ago, while the page dedicated to Elon Musk was fact-checked within the past hour. Not every entry has received a recent review, however. The page for Honolulu, reached via a link from Obama’s article, was last fact-checked seven months ago, indicating that scans have not been applied uniformly across the platform.

How the update system works

The encyclopedia allows users to propose changes to existing entries. A suggested update to the Gears of War: E-Day page, adding the game’s 6 October release date, was accepted by Grokipedia and now appears on the listing. A separate request for a new article about Meta’s Muse chatbot was marked as “In Review”, showing that submissions pass through a moderation stage before publication.

The renewed activity follows a lengthy period without changes. Articles on the platform had reportedly gone without reviewed edits between April and August, prompting questions about whether the project remained in active development.

Statements from xAI

Elon Musk has not posted about Grokipedia on X since February. Roughly a year ago, he claimed the encyclopedia would be “a massive improvement over Wikipedia”. A request for comment sent to xAI did not receive an immediate response.

More recent commentary came from Benji Taylor, head of design at X and xAI, who addressed the project last week. Taylor stated that “We haven’t forgotten about Grokipedia” and added that “v0.2 will be better than ever”, even though version 0.2 technically launched in November. The remarks indicate continued internal work on the platform despite the extended gap in public updates.

The fact-checking notes now visible across various entries suggest the system is once again processing pages, with individual articles receiving reviews at different intervals rather than through a single sweeping update.
