Google Gemini Gains Dedicated Student Hub for 2026

Google Gemini Gains Dedicated Student Hub for 2026 - Google Gemini student hub
Google Gemini adds a dedicated student hub with study notebooks, flashcards, quizzes, Deep Research in Gemini Live and free Google AI subscriptions.

Google Gemini is rolling out a dedicated student hub, arriving in time for the back-to-school season. The new feature acts as a one-stop repository where learners can collect research in a study notebook, create flashcards, take practice quizzes and more.

Google is enhancing its study notebooks with support for graphs and images, broadening the range of material students can compile in a single place. The tool can also read a syllabus and add test dates and deadlines directly to Google Calendar, helping students keep track of their academic schedule without manual entry.

Deep Research Arrives in Gemini Live

Alongside the study tools, Google is adding Deep Research to Gemini Live. Students can ask Gemini to generate detailed research reports and then talk through the results conversationally. When a report takes time to compile, users can close the chat and lock their phone screen, and Gemini will send a notification once the report is ready.

In the coming weeks, Google will begin rolling out a new capability for Lens within the Google mobile app. The feature lets users photograph a study sheet or worksheet to receive explanations, assistance with complex concepts, or coaching when a mistake has been made. This positions the phone camera as a direct route into on-demand study support.

Free AI Subscriptions for Students

Eligible students in the United States can claim one year of Google AI Pro at no cost. The plan includes 5TB of storage, Google Health Premium, higher usage limits on Gemini, and access to Gemini across a range of Google apps.

Students outside the US are offered the Google AI Plus subscription instead, which is slightly less comprehensive. That tier comes with 400GB of storage and lower Gemini usage limits, giving international learners access to the core tools at a reduced allowance.

The student hub brings together research, revision and scheduling functions within Gemini, while the addition of Deep Research and the forthcoming Lens feature extend Gemini’s role across both written reports and image-based study material.
