CMF, the sub-brand of Nothing, has teased a new device that could emerge as a compelling alternative to the AirPods Pro 3. While Apple’s premium earbuds are widely regarded as excellent, they remain expensive, which is where CMF’s more affordable offerings have found their appeal.
CMF teases new earbuds
The teaser appeared on CMF’s account, featuring an image accompanied by the text “A hint of what’s next,” effectively confirming that a launch is imminent. At first glance the image is difficult to interpret, but it depicts a single earbud viewed from a bottom-up angle. No further details about the product were provided, nor was any indication given of a potential release date.
Several design elements are nonetheless visible. The bud has a white stem, at least two microphones, and a metallic silver finish on the body, along with an orange silicone tip. At the top of the stem there is a circle, likely indicating a touch control zone, a feature present on earlier CMF models. This suggests the design is unlikely to change dramatically.
Could this be the CMF Buds 3?
It is very probable that the image is the first in a series of teasers for the next generation of CMF Buds. More than a year has passed since the brand launched the CMF Buds 2 range, which also included the CMF Buds 2a and the Buds 2 Plus. The CMF Buds Pro 2 arrived two years ago, making an upgrade all the more likely.
A contrast to the AirPods Pro 3
Amid the ongoing memory chip shortage and rising consumer technology prices, a new CMF Buds model could position itself as one of the strongest AirPods Pro 3 alternatives. Where Apple’s earbuds deliver an extensive feature set at a high price, the CMF Buds are inexpensive and refreshingly straightforward.
The earlier CMF Buds 2 and CMF Buds 2 Plus were both praised for offering considerable value while sounding good. No official release date for the new device has yet been confirmed.
