Apple loses another appeal
The Supreme Court and the US District Court are handling the Apple vs Epic case at the same time. The Supreme Court is set to weigh an appeal from Apple in October, while the District Court seeks to move forward with its injunctions.
On Tuesday, Apple failed to secure a stay order that would have paused the requirement to deliver a plan for new commission rates under the Epic ruling. The company also filed a stay request with the Supreme Court, which was denied on Thursday.
Deadlines approach as proceedings continue
With the stay denied, Apple is expected to submit its plan setting out how it intends to charge App Store commissions in line with the court’s decision. The dual-track nature of the case means the District Court continues to press ahead with its injunctions even as the Supreme Court prepares to consider Apple’s appeal in October.
