Apple has pledged to support relief efforts in Indonesia following a deadly earthquake that has left thousands of people displaced and triggered more than 1,000 aftershocks.
The company confirmed it would donate to first responders and ongoing recovery work in the region, where rescue teams continue to assist communities affected by the disaster.
Apple to donate to Indonesian earthquake relief
On 16 August, a magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia. At the time of reporting, the death toll stood at close to 70. More than 200 people have been injured, while thousands more have been driven from their homes.
The scale of the event has been compounded by intense seismic activity in the hours that followed. Nearly 1,000 aftershocks were detected within the 24 hours after the initial tremor, adding to the challenges facing rescue and recovery operations across the affected areas.
Continued support for communities in crisis
The donation is directed towards first responders and relief programmes working to reach those displaced by the quake. Such contributions typically help fund emergency supplies, medical care and shelter for people who have lost their homes.
Apple has previously stepped in to assist regions hit by natural disasters, offering financial support to organisations coordinating on-the-ground response. The latest pledge continues that pattern of contributions during major emergencies.
