YouTube Premium subscribers across Europe are being warned about another price increase, arriving just months after Google raised prices in the United States. Multiple accounts from users indicate that the change will take effect in the coming months, with several notifications referencing October as the first billing cycle under the new rates.
In April, the individual plan in the US rose from the equivalent of roughly £11 to around £13. European subscribers, however, may face a steeper adjustment, with the exact figures varying from one market to another.
How much more European subscribers will pay
Reports suggest the individual plan could climb from €17.99 to €20.99 in some regions, while other users have been told their monthly charge will rise from €14.99 to €16.99. The most consistent detail concerns the family plan, which could reach €29.99 per month, up from €25.99.
It remains unclear exactly which countries will be affected, though subscribers in Portugal and Italy have reported receiving notification emails. The variation across markets means the impact will differ depending on where users are based.
Pricing in the United States and the Lite tier
Google has already adjusted its US pricing, making a further rise there unlikely in the short term. American users are now charged the equivalent of about £13 for the individual plan, up from roughly £11, while the family plan increased from around £17 to approximately £20.
The YouTube Premium Lite plan also rose, reaching the equivalent of about £7, up from roughly £6. While this cheaper tier is available in some European countries, there have been no reports of a price increase for it so far.
Responses to the changes have ranged from surprise to frustration, with many users signalling an intention to cancel their subscriptions and seek alternative ways to enjoy an ad-free experience. The scale of the European increase, and the full list of affected countries, has yet to be confirmed by all markets, with October cited as the point when new charges are expected to begin.
