T-Mobile has withdrawn its Better Value plan less than a year after introducing it, removing the offer on Tuesday as part of the launch of its new “2.0” plans. The change was made quietly, with the plan disappearing from the carrier’s website after having been available as recently as Monday.
The move coincided with T-Mobile’s announcement of a new EIP Flex 36 installment plan, marketed under the name “Nothing”, which allows customers to acquire a new device with no upfront payment, including no taxes on the handset.
What Happened to the Better Value Plan
Introduced in January, the Better Value plan had always been listed as a limited-time offer, though no end date was ever specified. A T-Mobile spokesperson confirmed that the plan was aimed at eligible customers and that its removal affects only new sign-ups. Those already subscribed will see no change unless they choose to move to a different option.
Customers on the outgoing plan may opt to switch to the comparable Experience More 2.0 plan should they wish to take advantage of the new 36-month financing arrangements.
How Better Value Compared
The Better Value plan was closely aligned with the existing Experience More plan, sharing a price of roughly £110 for three lines. Both included unlimited high-speed 5G data and T-Mobile’s five-year price guarantee.
Several features set Better Value apart, however. It provided 250GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data, compared with 60GB on Experience More. The carrier’s top-tier Experience Beyond 2.0 plan offers unlimited high-speed hotspot data. When travelling to Canada and Mexico, Better Value granted 30GB of high-speed data against the 15GB available on Experience More. It also bundled T-Satellite service, which is otherwise a roughly £8 add-on with Experience More.
Eligibility Conditions
Better Value came with notable requirements that appeared designed to draw in customers from rival networks. People switching had to sign up for three or more lines, two of which needed to be eligible numbers ported over to the new plan. Existing T-Mobile subscribers could enrol, but only if they had been on a T-Mobile postpaid plan for at least five years.
With the launch of the new plans, the Better Value offer is no longer available to new customers.
