Slack is introducing a new feature that lets users build interactive reports, polls, dashboards, presentations, microsites, and other tools directly inside a chat. The addition brings AI-driven creation into everyday conversations, removing the need to switch between separate applications.
How Slackforce Surfaces Works
The feature, called Slackforce Surfaces, allows users to describe to Slackbot what they need. From there, Slackbot uses AI to gather information from relevant conversations and connected apps, such as Google Drive or Salesforce, to create the requested item.
The approach means teams can generate visualisations and interactive tools by simply outlining their requirements in plain language. Slackbot then pulls together the necessary data automatically, drawing on both chat history and integrated services to assemble the finished result.
Sharing and Collaboration
Once Slackbot creates a Surface, it can be shared with colleagues and pinned to channels. This lets other people view it, interact with it, and leave comments, keeping collaboration within the same workspace where the underlying conversations take place.
In one example shared by the company, a user asks Slackbot for help creating an arcade-themed visualisation of AI token usage. The scenario illustrates how the tool can turn a straightforward request into a bespoke, interactive output ready to be shared across a team.
By embedding report and dashboard creation inside chats, Slackforce Surfaces aims to keep information, tools, and discussion in one place. The feature connects with external platforms including Google Drive and Salesforce, allowing data from those services to feed directly into the items Slackbot builds.
