Apple is paying £186 million to settle claims that it failed to deliver an AI-upgraded Siri, and eligible iPhone owners are now able to submit a claim for a payout. Those who live in the United States and purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between 10 June 2024 and 29 March 2025 can file a claim on the settlement’s website.
How much iPhone owners could receive
Claimants can expect an estimated £19 per eligible device. However, this figure could rise to as much as £71, depending on the number of people who ultimately file. The final payout therefore varies according to how many valid claims are submitted.
To take part, applicants need to provide their name, contact details, and iPhone serial number on the settlement’s website. The deadline for submitting a claim is 21 December 2026, and applications must be completed before that date to qualify.
What the lawsuit alleged
The class action lawsuit claimed that Apple created a “clear and reasonable consumer expectation” that new AI features previewed during WWDC 2024 would launch alongside the iPhone 16. Instead, the handset arrived with a more limited set of capabilities, despite being marketed as “built for Apple Intelligence”.
The company subsequently delayed the rollout of its AI-upgraded Siri. The revamped assistant only recently became available with iOS 27, which was released earlier this month. Apple has denied any wrongdoing in relation to the claims.
The settlement applies specifically to devices bought within the defined window, meaning owners of the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 range purchased between the two dates are the ones eligible to file. Each qualifying device counts towards the payout, so those with multiple eligible handsets may be able to submit claims accordingly.
