Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally on its way after more than a decade of anticipation. Rockstar Games is set to release the title on 19 November, and pre-orders are already open, with the standard edition priced at roughly £63 and the Ultimate Edition at around £79. Ahead of the launch, an extended preview will give players their most detailed look at the game to date.
Netflix will stream Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look from 8pm BST on 27 August, following an announcement made on 6 August. Viewers with a Netflix subscription, which starts at approximately £7 a month, will be able to watch it there first. Those without a subscription can catch the same preview on YouTube around six hours later, at 2am BST.
A launch that reshaped the release calendar
Grand Theft Auto 6 is widely expected to dominate the market once it arrives. After Rockstar confirmed its November window, other publishers largely avoided the month to sidestep direct competition. When the game was delayed in 2025, industry analysts anticipated that rival studios would rework their schedules accordingly.
The effect has been notable. August, September and October now feature at least 30 releases combined, including high-profile titles such as Marvel’s Wolverine on 15 September and Gears of War: E-Day on 6 October. The only game scheduled close to Rockstar’s date is Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, due on 3 November, roughly two weeks before GTA 6 arrives.
What we know about the story
The game follows star-crossed lovers Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, loosely based on Miami and Florida respectively. Early trailers show Jason working as a handyman and enforcer for local drug smuggler Brian Heder, while Lucia is released from the Leonida Penitentiary.
The footage also depicts both characters robbing a store, fighting others and moving through the seedy underworld of Vice City. The trailers make clear that Jason and Lucia will work together and do almost anything to secure the life they dream of.
The extended preview streams on Netflix from 8pm BST on 27 August, with the YouTube release following at 2am BST.
