The Google Pixel Tablet has been discontinued, with the device removed from the Google Store. Launched in 2023, the slate has had nearly all references to it wiped from Google’s online shop, leaving only a handful of accessories still available for purchase.
Among the items that remain listed are the Pixel Tablet Case at around £62 in three colours, the Charging Speaker Dock at approximately £101 in two colours, the Speck MagFolio case at roughly £31, and the Speck Standy Shell Case at about £39 in three colours.
What the Pixel Tablet offered
Before its removal, the Pixel Tablet was the only tablet in Google’s device lineup, often described as a cross between an Android tablet and a Nest Hub smart speaker. In review, the quality of the display was well received and the speaker dock was praised as practical. However, the overall score awarded was 3.4 out of 10.
Criticisms included the lack of a keyboard accessory, an audio experience described as “not impressive,” and performance that was said to be a “tad sluggish.”
Specifications and software support
The Pixel Tablet featured a 10.95-inch LCD display and was powered by the Tensor G2 processor. It came with 8GB of memory and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Two 8MP cameras were fitted, one rear-facing and one front-facing. Android 13 was pre-installed, with the device eligible for updates to the latest Android 17.
The tablet is still scheduled to receive operating system and security updates through to June 2028, meaning it will be updated to Android 18 next year.
A rumoured Pixel Tablet 2, expected in 2025, was cancelled by Google in November 2024. A Pixel Tablet 3, reportedly set for 2027, was also scrapped before the original model was pulled from the store.
How to buy one now
Originally priced at around £395 bundled with the charging speaker dock, the tablet was later sold on its own for approximately £315. With the device now gone from the Google Store, the main option to obtain one is through retailers offering refurbished models such as Swappa, Back Market, and eBay.
Depending on condition, a used 128GB model can sell for roughly £182 to £285, while previously owned 256GB units can be found for around £297 to as much as £395.
Sales of the device continued through late August, and the listing still appeared in the Google Store during the first few days of September, showing the tablet as out of stock before the listing itself was removed.
