The Xgimi Aura 3 range made its debut at IFA in Berlin, with two new ultrashort-throw projectors joining the line-up. The Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro sit above the Aura 2, matching a wider industry trend towards high brightness and 120Hz refresh rates seen in rival models.
Housed in a smart, wood-panelled design, the light engine delivers a stated 5,700 lumens on the Max and 4,100 lumens on the Pro. Xgimi describes the pairing as featuring the world’s first dual iris system, offering greater control over how much light reaches the screen. The result is a dynamic contrast ratio rather than a high native contrast ratio, with real-world performance yet to be assessed. Xgimi states the same light engine is used in its Titan Noir model.
Design and Audio
The two projectors share a look closely aligned with the Aura 3. As ultrashort-throw units, they are designed to act as the central hub of a home cinema, which places extra emphasis on the built-in speakers. For this series, Xgimi has again worked with Harman Kardon on the audio. Both models carry 80 watts of total power, though the number of drivers behind that figure has not been confirmed.
Displayed alongside the projectors at the Xgimi stand was a possible production version of the Ascend screen, a motorised ambient-light-rejecting screen first shown at CES 2025.
Pricing and Availability
Xgimi announced preorder pricing through Kickstarter. A deposit of around £40 secures roughly £160 off, taking the preorder price to approximately £1,890 for the Max and £1,730 for the Pro. Both figures sit a little above the Aura 2, and the eventual recommended retail price is likely to be higher at launch.
