The UGREEN Nexode Pro 160W Charger with Retractable Cable is the latest iteration in a line of GaN chargers designed for travel and daily use. Compact thanks to GaN technology, this model adds a retractable cable, a built-in display panel, and foldable pins. While it is slightly larger than its predecessor, the new features deliver greater convenience in everyday charging.
The Nexode Pro 160W is available for around £78, a reasonable price given everything on offer. After roughly three months of extensive use, three features stand out.
Built-in LCD panel removes charging guesswork
The built-in LCD screen makes a noticeable difference in daily use. It removes the guesswork from charging, showing how long devices take to reach a full charge. The display also presents real-time charging speeds, including wattage, voltage, and the charging protocol in use.
This is particularly useful with phones such as the Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra, which use their own charging standards. Both rely on USB PD at up to 50W. The screen also rotates according to the orientation of the charger.
Retractable cable adds convenience
The retractable cable supports up to 140W and is suited to charging phones, notebooks, and power banks. It offers four preset lengths and extends up to 70cm when fully drawn out. The USB-C connector features a built-in magnet that keeps the cable attached to the charger when not in use. After three months of heavy use, the retractable mechanism showed no issues.
All the ports needed for daily use
The Nexode Pro 160W includes three USB-C ports (one being the retractable cable) and a USB-A connector. The USB-C1 and retractable ports reach up to 140W over the USB PD 3.1 protocol, the USB-C2 port hits 100W, and the USB-A port reaches 22.5W, ideal for accessories.
The charger has a total power budget of 160W when all three USB-C ports are in use, split as 65W plus 65W plus 30W. This makes it a solid choice for charging several devices at once. The plug is also foldable, which is the case with US-style blade plugs, while the EU model likewise benefits from a folding plug that suits travel use.
