Google’s AI Mode in Search is gaining three new travel features designed to help users book flights and hotels and make better use of loyalty rewards. The rollout arrives as millions of travellers prepare for busy journeys, with heavier traffic and higher costs already reported for the period.
Flight tracking and hotel booking
The first addition brings Google’s airfare tracker directly into AI Mode. As you chat, you can describe when and where you want to fly, and you’ll receive a list of the best available options. From there, you can prompt the AI to track airfare for that location on chosen days or times and set up email notifications if the price changes.
A similar search-and-book routine is now available for hotels. You can use AI Mode to research options based on location, dates and preferences, making comparisons easier. When you are ready to book, you can do so directly within AI Mode, including through Booking.com, Choice Hotels, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG, Marriott, Priceline, Trip.com and Wyndham.
This feature is available now in the US in English, with plans to expand globally soon.
Understanding points and miles
The third feature tackles a common challenge: knowing how best to use points and miles. Users can now view the cost of airfare and hotels with points or miles factored in. Within AI Mode in Search, you can type a request such as “I want to fly from Seattle to Boston using AA miles. Help me find nonstop flights in late September” to see what those flights would cost using your rewards.
The feature supports multiple airline and hotel rewards systems, including Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, with more expected to be added soon.
These updates come directly to AI Mode in Search, distinct from earlier Google travel tools such as using AI Mode to find items you forgot to pack and planning trips with Gemini and Google Maps. The hotel booking feature and points-and-miles support currently apply within the US, with wider availability planned.
