AppleCare One Family was introduced during the iPhone 18 Pro event as a new subscription that bundles extended warranty protection for every device tied to your iCloud family group. Priced at roughly £37 per month, the plan is designed for households with a substantial amount of Apple hardware, and it marks a notable shift from the existing individual tier.
The service launches in the United States on 14 September, removing two of the biggest limitations found in the individual plan: the device cap and the single-account restriction. For families with enough Apple devices to justify the outlay, the maths could work in their favour, although the starting price of around £444 per year remains a considerable commitment for device protection.
How AppleCare One Individual Compares
The existing AppleCare One Individual plan costs approximately £15 per month and covers three products. Each additional device linked to the same Apple Account adds roughly £4.50 per month. That structure suits a single user with several gadgets, but it becomes less practical once multiple family members are involved.
The key sticking point has been the single-account restriction. Because coverage was tied to one Apple Account, family members were generally pushed onto separate AppleCare One or AppleCare+ plans. Even Family Sharing did not change that requirement, leaving households to juggle multiple subscriptions.
Where Families Could Save
The new Family tier addresses that gap directly by lifting both the device limit and the single-account rule. Instead of maintaining several individual plans across different accounts, a household can consolidate protection under one subscription that spans the entire iCloud family group.
Whether the Family plan represents genuine value depends on how much Apple hardware a household owns. The more devices in play across multiple family members, the stronger the case for the bundled option over separate individual plans. For smaller setups, the individual tier and its per-device add-ons may still prove more economical.
