Nvidia PAIR gives owners of an M4 Mac a way to offload local AI tasks to a Windows PC, effectively turning a home network into a shared computing resource. The free tool connects supported machines so that AI workloads can be spread across multiple devices.
What Nvidia PAIR does
The Personal AI Router (PAIR) is not a piece of hardware. It is software that links supported Apple Silicon Macs, Nvidia RTX PCs, and DGX Spark systems, allowing them to work together on local AI tasks.
PAIR is designed to work with Ollama and LM Studio, two tools used for running AI models locally. It discovers the participating computers on a network and provides AI apps with a single connection point for sending requests. As a result, users do not need to configure each application individually to reach every machine.
How the shared workload helps
For anyone already running local AI on a Mac, PAIR offers a means of bringing a compatible gaming PC into play when requests begin to build up. The software allows independent requests to be distributed to different computers rather than being processed on a single device.
As an example, an AI agent tasked with reviewing several documents could have its separate requests handled across the connected machines at the same time, spreading the processing load. PAIR supports Apple Silicon Macs, Nvidia RTX PCs, and DGX Spark systems as part of this shared arrangement.
