The Lenovo Googlebook 15 has surfaced in its most comprehensive specifications leak to date, and the details point towards a premium machine rather than the budget Chromebook many might expect. While the leaked information includes a full purported specifications sheet, it does not reveal a price or an exact launch date.
Google announced the new device in May and said it would go on sale during the autumn. A Google representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the leaked details.
Performance and display
Under the bonnet, the machine reportedly runs an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, paired with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. A 70-watt-hour battery is said to last up to 11 hours. The leaked unit is identified as GB 151PH12, and according to Lenovo’s naming guide, the IPH platform code refers to Panther Lake-H, indicating an Intel integrated graphics chip.
The laptop features a 15.3-inch OLED display with a 2,880-by-1,800-pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio with slim bezels. Brightness is rated at 500 nits, with 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage. The whole device is said to weigh just 2.84 pounds and measure 13.43 by 9.29 by 0.63 inches. It is also a touchscreen.
Distinctive features and connectivity
One notable exterior element is the Glowbar, a coloured Google indicator on the lid that displays battery and charging status. It remains unclear whether this will offer additional functionality, though some customisation of the indicator options seems likely.
Inside, users get a haptic trackpad measuring 150 by 95 millimetres, a fingerprint sensor and Google facial authentication, positioned as the company’s answer to Apple’s Face ID and possibly linked to Google Pixel’s Project Toscana. A 5MP RGB webcam with dual microphones and a physical privacy shutter supports this feature. Audio is handled by four Dolby Atmos speakers set on either side of the keyboard.
The keyboard appears to include a dedicated Google “G” key on the bottom row between the Function and Alt keys, which could act as a command key or activate the AI tool Gemini. The device should sync with Android phones, allowing access to apps and files directly, comparable to Microsoft Phone Link on Windows.
It is currently unclear whether the Googlebook will offer deeper Android integration, or whether the proactive help capabilities will remain exclusive to the device. Such features will be restricted to certain countries and languages, as well as users aged 18 and over. The port selection includes a Thunderbolt 4 port and a USB 3.2 Type-A port.
