The iPhone Duo launch has rekindled a sense of enthusiasm among Apple followers that had been fading in recent years. During last week’s Apple event, the company unveiled its foldable flagship alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models, drawing significant attention from viewers eager to see the manufacturer’s first folding handset become a reality.
Ahead of the presentation, new Apple CEO John Ternus teased the variable aperture feature for the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. That preview helped build anticipation, though it was the prospect of a foldable device that pulled in the largest share of the audience.
Why Viewers Tuned In
When readers were asked what drove their interest in this year’s presentation, more than 34 percent said they wanted the iPhone Duo. After years of speculation and waiting, the arrival of Apple’s first foldable appears to have drawn back even those who had grown weary of the company’s annual events.
A further group, almost 28 percent, tuned in simply to keep up with what Apple had been developing. September remains a busy period for the technology sector, and many mainstream consumers either watch the event directly or catch a summary of the announcements afterwards.
A nearly identical proportion, just slightly smaller, indicated that they were considering the iPhone 18 Pro and watched the event for that reason. It has since been confirmed that the standard iPhone 18, the iPhone Air 2 and the iPhone 18e are all scheduled to arrive early next year.
A Mix of Motivations
Not every viewer approached the event with the same intentions. Almost 10 percent of respondents admitted they looked forward to the presentation primarily so they could poke fun at the new iPhone models. This range of reactions reflects the broad audience that Apple continues to attract, from committed buyers to sceptical onlookers.
The launch also generated wider discussion across the community, with attention turning to how rival devices might compare and to reports concerning demand for the new Pro line-up. The variable aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the debut of the foldable form factor were among the standout talking points from the event.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro Max are now available, with a saving of roughly £75 offered to early buyers. The base iPhone 18, the iPhone Air 2 and the iPhone 18e are all confirmed to launch in the opening months of the year, joining the foldable Duo and the Pro models that headlined last week’s presentation.
