The iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max could arrive with the largest displays in the history of the range, paired with a quad-curved, nearly all-glass exterior, according to the latest reports circulating online.
A well-known technology insider posting on the Chinese social platform Weibo indicated over the weekend that the iPhone 20 Pro screen would measure 6.41 inches, with the Pro Max stretching to 6.96 inches, both measured diagonally. By comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which reached stores last week, measure 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches respectively, figures Apple rounds up to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches. The iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable handset, offers a 7.6-inch inner display when opened.
Apple has not commented on the speculation.
More glass, smaller Dynamic Island
The reports align with earlier claims that the exterior of the new flagship handsets would be almost entirely glass, in what has been described as a quad-curved design. This means the glass would wrap around all four sides of the phone, giving the appearance of a device without a bezel. Earlier reporting suggested the glass on the front and back would curve into the sides, joined by a metal band running through the middle.
The exteriors of the current iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are made from aluminium and ceramic glass. In addition to the redesigned casing, the iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature a smaller Dynamic Island and a small punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera on the front.
The Dynamic Island is the capsule-shaped area at the top of the front screen that houses the selfie camera. It also expands and contracts to display notifications, system alerts and background activities.
A 20th anniversary launch
The iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2027 as the next models in the series. Apple is widely anticipated to skip the iPhone 19 name entirely and move straight to iPhone 20, marking the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone, which launched in 2007.
Larger screens are well suited to watching video and working while on the move, though bigger displays also carry higher production costs that can be passed on to buyers. The combination of the anniversary milestone, an all-glass design and expanded screens has fuelled expectation that the flagship models could command a premium price.
The iPhone Duo, Apple’s foldable handset, reaches stores on 23 October, while the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are already available.
