Power users tend to customise their devices extensively, configuring software to their liking, relying on multitasking features such as split screens, and optimising performance to push their phones to full potential. Heavy users may spend a similar amount of time on their devices, though typically scrolling through social media feeds rather than fine-tuning settings. Users who demand the most from their phones are usually drawn to the top-of-the-line flagship model, as it generally carries the largest battery capacity within a given series. This has long made the iPhone Pro Max line and the largest Pixel variants popular choices among those who prioritise longevity.
The iPhone has not always enjoyed a strong reputation for battery life. There was a period when iPhone owners were nicknamed “Wallhuggers”, a label popularised by a Samsung advertisement that aired in July 2014, when the iPhone 5s was the newest model. The newest rumour for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, due to be unveiled this coming Wednesday, points to a battery capacity between 5,391 mAh and 5,567 mAh. The higher figure is said to correspond to the US model, which is eSIM only.
At present, three days before the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are officially introduced, the largest battery capacity of any iPhone belongs to the iPhone 17 Pro Max at 5,088 mAh. Should the rumoured figures prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro Max would set a new record for battery capacity in an iPhone.
