A leaked Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra benchmark has surfaced in the Geekbench database, offering the first look at the real-world performance Samsung’s flagship tablet may deliver. While much of the Galaxy Tab S12 series specification list had already emerged, this listing provides the clearest indication yet of how the device performs.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, carrying model number SM-X940, recorded 2,760 points in the single-core test and 9,291 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench 7. The listing also confirmed several key details about the tablet, including 12GB of RAM and Android 17 running during the test.
A standard Dimensity 9500 that still outperforms its predecessor
Perhaps the most surprising element is the choice of chipset. The benchmark indicates the tablet runs on the base MediaTek Dimensity 9500, rather than a Plus variant. This processor features one core clocked at 4.21GHz, three cores at 3.50GHz, and four cores at 2.70GHz.
By comparison, last year’s Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra debuted with the Dimensity 9400 Plus, which had a single prime core running at 3.73GHz. Despite the apparent step down from a Plus chip to a standard version, the newer model shows meaningful gains. A recent Geekbench 7 test of the Tab S11 Ultra returned 2,283 single-core and 8,093 multi-core scores, meaning the S12 Ultra delivers roughly a 20% improvement in single-core performance and around a 15% increase in multi-core tasks.
Software differences may also play a part. The previous model ran on Android 16, and the newer optimisations found in Android 17 could contribute to the higher figures. It is worth noting the benchmark was run on a pre-release unit and pre-release software, which are typically slower than final retail versions.
Expected launch and design details
Samsung’s only official comment on the Galaxy Tab S12 series has confirmed a launch in the second half of the year, with unofficial reports pointing to a September arrival. That timeline suggests more official information could appear soon.
Earlier leaks indicate the new models will carry over much of the design of their predecessors. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is expected to keep the 14.6-inch display, the 11,600 mAh battery, and 45W charging. With relatively few external changes anticipated, the performance uplift measured in the leaked Geekbench listing stands as the most significant generational difference identified so far.
