CVS shoppers may be eligible for a payment following a £15 million settlement reached by the pharmacy chain to resolve a lawsuit over the alleged sale of customer data. The claim relates to individuals who shopped through the company’s websites (cvs.com and cvshealth.com) or its mobile app.
The lawsuit alleges that CVS disclosed private health information, browsing data and other details from users to advertising company Criteo and additional third parties. The pharmacy denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to avoid the further costs of continued litigation and other business disruption.
Who Is Eligible to Claim
Notifications for potential class members were sent out earlier in September, with the deadline to submit a claim form set for 16 November 2026. Anyone who shopped on any of the CVS websites or mobile apps prior to 27 July 2026 is considered eligible to receive a payment, although a claim must still be submitted to qualify.
Customers who submit a claim without documentation may receive up to £4, while those who provide valid documentation confirming they belong to the class may receive up to £8. The final amount may be reduced depending on the number of valid claims submitted.
Opting Out and Payment Timeline
As is typical with class action lawsuits, potential class members may also choose to opt out of the settlement. Opting out will prevent any payment but will preserve the right to sue the company directly. The final date to opt out is 1 November 2026.
The final hearing is scheduled for 1 December 2026. If the court approves the settlement, payments will be issued 120 days after approval. Class members can receive their payment via cheque, PayPal, Venmo or Zelle.
