The Xiaomi 18 Fold has been announced as the company’s very first wide-style foldable smartphone, arriving just two days after Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone Ultra reveal. It shares the same form factor as Apple’s device and is also offered in a cherry red colourway that had been rumoured for the rival handset.
Beyond appearances, the two devices diverge sharply. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by Xiaomi’s self-developed Xring O3 SoC, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. The 16GB configuration uses LPDDR6 memory, while the remaining variants rely on LPDDR5X.
Displays and camera system
The internal folding screen measures 7.58 inches with a 2364×1672 resolution, while the cover screen spans 5.38 inches at 1168×1712. Both panels offer a 120Hz refresh rate, a 2:1 aspect ratio and up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. The cover display is protected by Xiaomi’s Shield Glass 3.0.
The 200MP main camera uses Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 1/1.56-inch sensor. It is joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with an 80mm focal length for 3.5x optical zoom and 160mm 7x in-sensor “lossless” zoom, plus a 50MP ultrawide unit. A 16MP selfie camera sits on each screen.
Battery, software and pricing
A 6,000 mAh battery with 20% silicon content supports up to 67W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device runs HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 and features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button, alongside stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold comes in black, red, Warm Gold and a ceramic special edition. Folded, it measures 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68 mm, and unfolded it is 117.8 x 163.8 x 5.02 mm, weighing 219g.
Pricing starts at around £1,270 for the 12/256GB model, rising to roughly £1,390 for 12/512GB, £1,505 for 16/512GB and £1,735 for 16GB/1TB. The ceramic special edition, available solely with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, is priced at approximately £1,850. Xiaomi has no plans to sell the 18 Fold outside China.
