The T-Mobile Super Essentials Saver is a low-cost mobile plan that the carrier does not openly advertise, available exclusively through Walmart stores. It offers the same features as the standard Essentials plan but at a considerably lower price, making it one of the more competitive options currently aimed at new customers.
The plan was quietly introduced from 6 August, appearing without fanfare. Many customers only became aware of it after spotting it in Walmart stores and sharing details online. Despite the limited attention, it may represent strong value for those willing to meet its conditions.
What the Super Essentials Saver plan includes
The plan provides unlimited 5G data, with 50 GB of premium data before deprioritisation kicks in. It also includes unlimited talk, text and hotspot, though hotspot speeds are limited to 3G. Unlimited text messaging extends to more than 215 countries, and coverage is provided across Canada and Mexico.
Additional benefits include T-Mobile Tuesdays and Scam Shield, while the activation fee is waived at sign-up. Pricing is set at roughly £19 per line with AutoPay, or around £23 per line without it. The plan permits a maximum of two lines.
By comparison, the Essentials 2.0 and Essentials Saver 2.0 plans start at approximately £39, making the Super Essentials Saver roughly half the cost. It also undercuts the Essentials Saver with Student Perks Savings 2.0, which begins at about £23.
The limitations to consider
Several restrictions accompany the lower price. Network deprioritisation moves from QCI 7 to QCI 9 once 50 GB of data has been used. Video streaming is capped at 480p resolution, and hotspot speeds remain limited to 3G, although hotspot data itself is unlimited.
The plan offers no phone promotions and does not allow more than two lines. It can only be acquired by visiting a Walmart store, and taxes and fees are not included in the advertised price. An additional charge of roughly £4 to £6 applies on top of the base cost.
The most significant condition is that the Super Essentials Saver plan is limited to new T-Mobile customers only. Existing subscribers are not eligible, so those considering a switch would need to sign up in person at a Walmart location to access the plan.
