The Sony Xperia 10 VIII has been unveiled, arriving with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, a 6.1-inch OLED display, a 5,000mAh battery and a 50MP main camera. Pricing starts at roughly £470, a figure that looks steep given the handset remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. Sony’s latest midranger is, in effect, last year’s phone with a new coat of paint.
Samsung has also taken the wraps off the Galaxy S26 FE. The device introduces a new chipset and runs the latest One UI 9 with an expanded range of Galaxy AI features, yet otherwise carries the same specifications as its predecessor. The new additions include My FanCam, Horizon Lock, Photo Assist and custom widgets for Now Brief, among others.
The Galaxy S26 FE goes on sale from 4 September in four colours: Blueberry, Pistachio, Graphite and White. Prices start from around £610.
Poco F9 Series and Samsung’s Future Flagships
Poco is preparing to launch its F9 series and has confirmed the chips powering its two top models. The F9 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the F9 Ultra steps up to the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Both handsets will be officially unveiled next Tuesday.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra appeared in several leaks over the week, with fresh CAD renders offering the clearest look yet at Samsung’s next flagship. The phone appears to adopt a revised rear camera layout and a slightly more rounded design, although conflicting renders mean the final camera arrangement remains uncertain. A triple-rear camera setup is rumoured.
Samsung reportedly considered a major battery upgrade for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, potentially reaching 7,000mAh, but decided against it. Weight and charging time were cited as the deciding factors, with available space and longevity emerging as the two main issues.
Nokia 300 Charge and Motorola’s GrapheneOS Move
HMD introduced the Nokia 300 Charge, a feature phone with a 3,700mAh battery that is large for its class. It doubles as a 10W power bank at the press of a dedicated “Out” button, promises more than 40 days of standby and includes a notably bright torch. The Nokia 300 Charge is already available in select markets for around £30, though there is no word yet on a wider global release.
Motorola confirmed that its 2027 flagship phones will officially support GrapheneOS, the de-Googled, more secure version of the Android Open Source Project. Users will be able to install the privacy-focused Android alternative without the usual hardware compatibility difficulties.
