The Samsung Galaxy Z8 series of foldables arrived roughly a month ago, and the first significant price cuts for the Z Fold8 Ultra and the Z Flip8 have already appeared. These handsets remain premium purchases, as flagship foldables always are, but the reductions are meaningful.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has been reduced by around £225. That substantial saving makes the Ultra roughly £75 cheaper than the wider Galaxy Z Fold8. In an ideal world, the decision between the two would rest on form factor preference, pitting the multitasking-focused Ultra against the media-friendly Z Fold8, but pricing is difficult to overlook. The Ultra also carries superior optics: a 200MP 1/1.3″ main sensor, a 10MP 3x/67mm telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide. By comparison, the Z Fold8 offers a 50MP 1/1.56″ main and a 50MP ultra-wide, with no dedicated telephoto.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 has a more modest saving of about £110, though it starts from a lower base. At approximately £790 for the entry model, it matches the price of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The S26 Ultra delivers considerably better cameras, along with the Privacy Screen feature and the S Pen, yet the Z Flip8 folds and the S26 Ultra does not, so the two target different buyers.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 currently sits at its recommended retail price, and no gift card is offered. A £150 bonus is available when trading in an older handset.
Galaxy S26 FE Launches Alongside the Wider S26 Range
The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE went on sale this week. There is no discount at present, but a £150 gift card is bundled in, which nearly offsets the difference. That incentive is essential to prevent the S26 FE from being overshadowed by its S26 stablemates.
The Samsung Galaxy S26+ costs around £75 more when comparing the 256GB versions, and this is not the lowest price seen recently, as it was cheaper a couple of weeks ago. The Plus model also carries an extra 4GB of RAM over the FE, so the gap extends beyond storage. The S26+ is the stronger phone overall, featuring a superior 6.7″ screen (1440p+ LTPO versus 1080p+ LTPS), a more capable chipset (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy versus Exynos 2500) and better connectivity, including USB-C 3.2 rather than USB-C 2.0. The cameras and battery are similar or identical.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra starts from about £790 at present, though it has dipped below £750.
