The Galaxy Buds On have appeared in fresh leaked images, and they look markedly different from any earbuds Samsung has released before. Rumours and renders have circulated for months, all pointing towards a pair of open-ear earbuds expected to launch in the coming weeks. The latest leak has practically confirmed the design.
Renders confirm the open-ear clip-on design
Two newly leaked images show that Samsung is preparing a pair of Galaxy Buds featuring an open-ear clip-on design. One image is a close-up render, while the other resembles a promotional photo depicting a man wearing the buds. Together, they confirm earlier suggestions that the Galaxy Buds On would adopt a look similar to the Sony LinkBuds Clip and the Huawei FreeClip 2.
In the promotional photo, the earbud wraps around the lower part of the ear, with the main section sitting inside the ear and the remainder resting on the back. As with comparable models, two bulbs are joined by a bridge that curves around the ear. The side positioned behind the ear is wider and flatter, while the rounder end that goes into the ear houses a speaker. The buds also appear to include at least one microphone.
Premium features expected on the Galaxy Buds On
Initially referred to as the Galaxy Buds Active, the new model is once again claimed to be named Galaxy Buds On. The earbuds are said to use open-ear air conduction to direct sound into the ear, though few specifications are known at this stage.
Earlier reports suggested the Buds On may arrive with several features, including some that first appeared on the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. The open-ear buds could gain nod and shake gesture support, allowing users to accept and reject calls simply by moving their head. Auto Volume and Volume Boost are also mooted, potentially detecting loud environments and adjusting the volume accordingly.
There were further signs of Gemini support, a voice recording feature, and an ability to pause media when the buds detect the user has fallen asleep.
A different approach for Samsung earbuds
Many Samsung fans have consistently expressed a wish for the company to revive its bean-shaped earbuds. Despite this, numerous users have voiced enthusiasm for the Galaxy Buds On and its new design. The earbuds are expected to launch in the coming weeks.
